How My Summer Went Up in Flames by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski

Goodreads Summary:
First she lost her heart. Then she lost her mind. And now she’s on a road trip to win back her ex. This debut novel’s packed with drama and romance!

Rosie’s always been impulsive. She didn’t intend to set her cheating ex-boyfriend’s car on fire. And she never thought her attempts to make amends could be considered stalking. So when she’s served with a temporary restraining order on the first day of summer vacation, she’s heartbroken—and furious.

To put distance between Rosie and her ex, Rosie’s parents send her on a cross-country road trip with responsible, reliable neighbor Matty and his two friends. Forget freedom of the road, Rosie wants to hitchhike home and win back her ex. But her determination starts to dwindle with each passing mile. Because Rosie’s spark of anger? It may have just ignited a romance with someone new…

My Review:
This book seemed to move really slowly, but not in a bad way. I never really got bored during the book, although some people might. It was a really cute story though. There was adventure, romance, friendship, and drama. Oh and throw in a fun road trip! I really enjoyed reading this book.

I loved the main character Rosie. She was hilarious, and very easy to relate to. I liked how chill she was about things and how not chill she was about other things. She is really good with her friends. Lilliana, Matty, and Avery are all really special to her and you can tell by the way she treats them and interacts with them. All of the characters were really fun, but I wish we would have gotten more of her brother and even her parents.

One thing about this book that frustrated me at times was the romance. You never knew who she was going to end up with. At different points in the book, you think it may be each one of the three guys (plus a cute cowboy they meet along the way). That was frustrating to me. Now that I am done with the book though, I love it. It was written almost softly and sweetly. I’m not sure how else to describe it.
I was surprised by who I found myself wanting her to end up with. I won’t tell you who, but I will tell you it ended like I wanted it too!! 🙂

This is a really fun book that had me swooning at times, and laughing out loud at other times. I would really recommend reading this book.
